BSN nurtures young football talent

Shaping future national players through competitions

BANK Simpanan Nasional (BSN), through its BSN Care Sports Pillar, continues to nurture young talents and promote community empowerment with the successful implementation of the BSN Care NextGen Strikers programme.

Through a strategic collaboration with KL Rangers Football Club (KLFC), a community football club that plays an active role in nurturing grassroots football talent, BSN brought together 300 young participants aged between 6 and 12 from schools across the Klang Valley, including 120 students from BSN’s adopted schools.

This collaboration reinforces BSN’s CSR commitment to youth empowerment and community development, while enhancing the bank’s visibility and impact in the sports and education sectors.

The BSN Care NextGen Strikers programme is designed to nurture young football talent while instilling values of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. The structured coaching also strengthens community ties, while promoting active lifestyles for students in schools.

The grassroots development programme was designed as a series of four football clinics conducted between July and October 2025 at various schools and sports centres, culminating in the Grassroots Cup tournament.

BSN conducted a series of four football clinics at SMK Taman Sri Rampai, KLFA Sports Centre, Padang Arena Sukan Azman Hashim UKM, and SK Taman Koperasi Polis Fasa 2, engaging a total of 300 students. By identifying and nurturing young footballers, through training and exposure, the programme supports the development of emerging talent, contributing to the future growth of Malaysian football.

A total of 120 outstanding players from the football clinics were selected to participate in the BSN Care Grassroots Cup, which took place on 9th Nov at the Pusat Pembelajaran BSN field in Bangi.

The criteria for the students selected for the bsn grassroots cup was based on football talent, determination and discipline.

The BSN Grassroots Cup crowned champions in two categories — Under-12 and Under-9. Adding to the excitement was a friendly match between BSN Care FC and Challo FC, graced by former national footballer Zaquan Adha, Astro Arena sports commentator Nafis Abdullah, BSN’s mascot, ‘Kucing Happy’ and mascots from the popular cartoon, Didi & Friends.

The players demonstrated the skills and knowledge they developed during the training sessions. Their selection from different schools reflected their showmanship, commitment, and strong football skills.

“This initiative reflects BSN’s dedication to building a stronger, healthier and more resilient community. By investing in grassroots sports, BSN aims to nurture well-rounded individuals and instil lifelong values that go beyond the football field,” said Datuk Jay Khairil, Chief Executive of BSN.

Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, patron of KL Rangers, lauded the collaboration between BSN and KL Rangers FC, noting that such partnerships play a vital role in providing structured opportunities for youth development at the grassroots level.

“Through programmes such as this, we are not only shaping future football players but also nurturing individuals who are more disciplined and motivated in life,” said Nik Nazmi.

Through the BSN Care NextGen Strikers, BSN reinforces its commitment to empowering young talent while creating meaningful community engagement, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, could learn, play, and grow.

BSN has played a key role in developing financial services and providing solutions to ensure broad access to financial opportunities for all segments of Malaysian society. For further information, visit www.bsn.com.my
