Upon arrival, rescue personnel discovered the student in a state of high distress.
QUICK intervention by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) prevented a potential tragedy yesterday after a student reportedly attempted to jump from the first floor of a hostel building near the Serdang Agricultural Institute.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Operations Control Centre (PGO) received an emergency call at 7.37am, prompting the immediate dispatch of a rescue team from the Sri Kembangan station to the scene.
Upon arrival, rescue personnel discovered the student in a state of high distress.
Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer I Nor Azuwan Zulghoni led the team in a delicate negotiation process to stabilise the situation.
“Personnel conducted an initial assessment and successfully persuaded the individual not to take any drastic action,” the department stated in an official Facebook post released today.
The student was brought to a secure area before being handed over to the institution’s management for further assistance.
Authorities have confirmed that the victim is currently receiving professional care at a nearby hospital. It was revealed that she is undergoing treatment for symptoms related to anxiety and hallucinations.
The operation was officially concluded at 8.06am once the site was secured and the victim was in safe hands.
