Uncle Tony from Food4U finds and shelters homeless man who was sprayed with water and kicked in KL incident.
A homeless man who suffered degrading treatment outside a Kuala Lumpur bank has found refuge, thanks to the swift action of a well-known charity worker.
Tony Lian, better known as Uncle Tony and founder of Food4U charity organisation, tracked down the victim within 30 minutes after watching a distressing video that spread online.
The footage showed the man being doused with water and physically assaulted while sleeping outside a bank in Taman Maluri.
“I located him near the Public Bank in Taman Maluri. He shared that he’d lost his position as a waiter and had nowhere to go. I’ve arranged for him to stay at The Sanctuary 1 home, where he’ll receive proper accommodation, meals, and healthcare,” Uncle Tony explained in his social media update.
The charity founder described the emotional moment when the victim broke down during the journey to the shelter. “The anguish was visible in his expression,” he noted.
Uncle Tony expressed gratitude to whoever shared the original footage online, stating it ultimately led to helping someone in desperate need.
He condemned the treatment shown in the video, calling it “inhumane and deplorable.”
The disturbing clip featured a female security officer and another individual, reportedly a shoe repairer, mistreating the sleeping man outside an AmBank location.
Following the incident, the financial institution released a statement expressing deep regret and concern, acknowledging that such behaviour towards any person is unacceptable.
Food4U operates in Kuala Lumpur providing essential support including meals, medical assistance, and rehabilitation services to homeless individuals and underprivileged communities.
