Much to the GrabFood rider’s surprise, Wong assured him that the damage was minor and said he would cover the repair costs himself.
A GRABFOOD rider’s attempt to take responsibility after accidentally damaging a parked Xpeng electric vehicle (EV) has warmed hearts online after the car’s owner chose to forgive the rider.
According to a Facebook post, the rider accidentally struck the grey EV while it was parked. However, due to heavy rain, he was unable to wait for the owner to return and apologise in person.
Determined to make amends, the rider later turned to social media to track down the owner so he could apologise and offer to pay for the damage.

The vehicle owner, identified as Phil Wong, later contacted the rider.

Much to the GrabFood rider’s surprise, Wong assured him that the damage was minor and said he would cover the repair costs himself.
“Don’t worry! My car isn’t badly damaged! Your job isn’t easy as well.
“I’ll repair my own car! You must take care of your own safety while delivering goods!”
Moved by Wong’s kindness, the rider apologised repeatedly and expressed his gratitude.
“I’m very, very sorry because it was my carelessness. I’m touched that you didn’t ask me for any compensation. May God reward you and your family for your kindness.”
The Facebook post has since garnered more than 33,000 reactions and over 1,000 comments, with many praising Wong for his empathy and generosity despite the damage to his vehicle.
Netizens also commended the rider for his honesty, noting that he went out of his way to locate the owner and take responsibility instead of walking away from the incident.
“Both of them deserve praise. It’s truly heartwarming to see that good and honest people exist everywhere, regardless of race.”
