Inspector Sheila’s latest spat with a stall owner in Kuala Lumpur sparks debate after TikTok video went viral
POLICE officer Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar or better known as Inspector Sheila is once again in the spotlight after a short video of her clashing with a food stall owner in Kuala Lumpur went viral on TikTok earlier today.
The 43-second clip, shared by user @erol.gombak just hours ago, shows the police officer confronting a man believed to be the stall owner.
The tense argument quickly drew the attention of nearby customers.
“Why did you touch me? What right do you have to touch me?” Sheila can be heard saying repeatedly.
She later told the man to move elsewhere to resolve the issue, saying, “Come, I’ll follow.”
A woman, believed to be the stall owner’s partner, tried to calm things down, but the argument continued.
“Ask him why he touched me. If I caused a scene, would you touch me? I’m a woman,” Sheila said, insisting on an apology.
“Can you apologise or not? You touched a woman.”
The incident comes just a day after Sheila, 37, was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Magistrates’ Court with obstructing police duties outside a restaurant, a week ago.
She pleaded not guilty under Section 186 of the Penal Code. Sheila has been suspended from duty since June 23, 2023, following previous cases where she allegedly insulted a police officer and threatened an elderly woman.
The latest video has sparked mixed reactions online.
TikTok user @emanhasiq wrote, “When people have power, rank, or status — this is what happens.”
Another commenter, @zaiful.zizi1, took a softer view: “You can always talk things out calmly. What she said makes sense too. I’m not taking sides. When we do business, doing it sincerely is what matters most.”
Once again, Inspector Sheila’s actions have split public opinion — and reignited debate over how power and conduct mix in uniform.
