Kajang town planning debate sparks online uproar

Kajang residents clash online after claims of poor planning, with many defending its strategic location and MRT access

LIVING in a peaceful and well-planned township is a priority for many homebuyers, especially when accessibility and traffic flow directly affect daily life.

But a recent online debate has put Kajang’s town planning under the spotlight.

Dayana took to Threads to claim that Kajang has the “worst” town planning, alleging that the area frequently suffers from heavy congestion.

“‘House is 10 minutes to the MRT.’ Yeah, 10 minutes if you install a zipline from your balcony straight to the MRT station!” she quipped.

Her sarcastic remark quickly drew responses from long-time Kajang residents, who argued that she was likely referring specifically to Kajang 2 township near Jalan Reko and not Kajang as a whole.

An “OG” resident, @kay_qif, said those who have lived in Kajang for years are familiar with alternative routes and shortcuts.

According to him, experienced locals can reach most places within 20 minutes, even during peak traffic.

Aina echoed a similar sentiment, clarifying that her experience has been different.

“I think that’s Kajang 2. I live in Kajang Saujana Impian, a very strategic location. Once you leave the house, you’re straight onto the Cheras Highway, and it’s less than 10 minutes to the MRT too,” she said.

Another resident, @Izznaufalfitri, shared that he had lived near Jade Hills for two decades and described it as one of the best areas in Kajang.

“The MRT is very accessible there. I’ve read quite a lot on Threads about issues in Kajang 2 though,” he added.

Meanwhile, another user championed Kajang Utama as the most strategic spot in the district.

“Step out and hit the highway — turn right and you can head to Semenyih, Kajang Perdana, even Kuala Lumpur. Turn left and you’ve got Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, and you can still reach Kuala Lumpur. At the back, we’ve got Kajang 2 and Bangi on standby!” the user wrote.
