M’sian woman faces backlash after asking public to donate Skechers shoes for child

A mother faces online backlash after asking the public to donate RM89 Skechers shoes for her child, with netizens calling the request demanding.

A mother recently faced backlash after making an online plea asking others to donate a pair of shoes for her child.

Despite the seemingly simple request, netizens were rubbed the wrong way after noticing the type of shoes the woman was asking for, according to a post on Threads.

A screenshot of a Facebook post circulating online showed that the woman had allegedly requested a pair of Skechers shoes, a brand known to be relatively expensive for many Malaysians.

The screenshot showed a black pair of shoes, intended for her child to wear to school, priced at RM89.

The woman claimed that her child wanted the shoes after noticing their school friends wearing the same brand.

The request irked netizens, who accused the mother of being too demanding and drew comparisons between her request and the school shoes worn by their own children.

“My child’s school shoes only cost RM25 from an online store,” one user pointed out.

“I just get my children’s school shoes from the supermarket for RM16 since they get dirty anyway,” another commented.

“She is being too demanding. Skechers shoes are not a necessity. She chose to have a child — must other people fulfil her child’s desires? Please have some common sense,” another wrote.
