Malaysian alleges working alone at an ice-blended stand for eight months with limited break times and off days
A Malaysian has recently exposed alleged unethical practices at their workplace, said to be a previously well-known “ice-blended” stand.
Posting on Threads, the individual claimed to have been employed there for the past three years and, upon entering their third year, was required to operate the stand alone, according to the post.
“Entering my third year, I started working the booth by myself for eight months from 10am until 8pm.
“The company refused to hire anyone else because my location did not bring in any sales (below RM1,000 is not considered a good sales amount),” the worker alleged.

As the worker is manning the stand alone, their breaks are allegedly limited, and they struggle to find time to pray.
“If I want to perform my solat, I have to do it secretly during my bathroom break,” they added.
It was also alleged that the company does not allocate proper break times and provides only one off day per week.
“It is difficult to apply for annual leave as I have to wait for other outlets to cover my shifts at my location. If not, I have to work for a whole year straight,” the worker said.
As the post gained traction, many users advised the worker to resign due to the allegedly toxic environment at the company.
“Just leave this place. The food and beverage industry always has openings. Many companies are looking for workers, especially local labour, and there are plenty of places with great perks,” one user commented.
