‘Please give her a seat’ — Pregnant commuter thanks kind stranger who spoke up on MRT

An 8-month pregnant Malay commuter thanks a kind Indian woman who spoke up for her on the MRT, as netizens praise Malaysians’ heartwarming unity.

A simple act of kindness on Kuala Lumpur’s MRT left one heavily pregnant commuter feeling both overwhelmed and grateful.

In a recent post on Threads, a user called @farrah.ain shared her experience: “Hey, I’m not trying to act like I’m heavily pregnant or anything, but earlier I took the MRT.

“I didn’t mind standing — I just accepted it because everyone else was asleep.

“Then this Indian lady noticed me and asked, ‘Are you pregnant?’ I said yes, and she went to the seating area and said, ‘Hello, there’s a pregnant lady here, please give up a seat.’

“I felt so awkward after that. I’m so sorry… but I’m really exhausted.

“I’m almost 8 months pregnant already.

“Thank you to that Indian sister and to the person who got up and gave me a seat even though they were sleeping earlier,” she wrote.

The post struck a chord online, with netizens praising the unnamed woman who stepped in to ensure the pregnant passenger could sit.

“I also remember a Chinese aunty once spoke up and told this man to get up, thanks to that aunty too,” one user called puterinina96 shared.

“Aww, this is so touching. Thank you to the kind person!” zakirah_nurrr wrote.

“That seat is a priority seat, so you guys should take it. But don’t worry — there are still many kind and good-hearted Malaysians out there, sis. We won’t judge,” mimiekhalif commented.
