“Commission isn’t much” – Sales advisor tells M’sians not to demand excessive free gifts for Mazda 3

“Sometimes the sales advisor even pays out of their own pocket for you. The commission for the Mazda 3 isn’t much.”

A Mazda sales advisor recently went viral after sharing a post urging customers not to demand excessive free gifts when purchasing the Mazda 3.

In an anonymous post in the Mazda 3 Skyactiv Malaysia Facebook group, the sales advisor appealed to buyers of the Mazda 3 1.5L to avoid pressuring sales staff for additional freebies, especially those opting for a full loan.

“You’re already asking for a full loan. What the sales advisor gives is more than enough,” the post read.

The sales advisor further explained that, in some cases, sales staff have to pay out of their own pockets to cover the cost of these gifts, adding that the commission earned from selling the Mazda 3 is relatively modest.

“Sometimes the sales advisor even pays out of their own pocket for you. The commission for the Mazda 3 isn’t much.”

However, the post quickly drew mixed reactions from netizens, with several criticising the sales advisor’s stance.

One commenter said that if the sales advisor was unwilling to accommodate requests, customers should simply switch to another salesperson, adding that such an attitude made the advisor appear “calculative”.

Others argued that it was the sales advisor’s responsibility to negotiate better deals with the dealership instead of paying out of pocket and blaming customers for asking for more.
