Woman recounts attempted car break-in by stranger, urges drivers to lock doors and stay alert, incident sparks safety advice online
A local woman has shared a harrowing encounter involving a stranger who attempted to force his way into her vehicle, urging motorists—particularly women—to remain vigilant by keeping their car doors locked at all times.
Taking to the social media platform Threads, she issued a reminder to drivers: “Safety advice, especially to the ladies. If you are inside a car, always lock your doors—whether the car is moving or not.”
The drama unfolded when the woman arrived at her workplace before dawn. While waiting to turn off her engine, she noticed a man walking past her car and decided to remain inside until she felt it was safe to exit.
“Suddenly, I was shocked. I saw the man standing next to my car door,” she recalled.
Reacting quickly, she dimmed her phone screen to avoid detection and began recording.
“Luckily, my dashcam was still recording since the engine was running,” she said.
The situation escalated when the man aggressively attempted to open her car door.
The woman stated that her vehicle’s dark tint likely made it difficult for the individual to see that she was inside, even in daylight conditions.
Faced with the intruder’s persistence, the woman honked her horn repeatedly, eventually prompting the man to flee.
“My heart was beating fast,” she said, adding that she remained in the vehicle until the area was clear before following a group of people into her office.
“I am still shaking now,” she wrote.

Although she does not currently intend to lodge a formal report, she plans to inform the local patrol officers about the incident.
