Angele returns with What You Want featuring Justice

Belgian pop star blends electronic and pop sounds in latest collaboration with French duo

Belgian pop star Angele has released her new single What You Want featuring French electronic duo Justice, along with a music video directed by the artistic collective (LA)Horde.

Born Angèle Van Laeken, the Belgian singer emerged as one of Europe’s most prominent pop artists over the past decade.

The track marks a collaboration between Angele’s pop songwriting and Justice’s electronic production, combining her intimate vocal style with the duo’s heavier club-influenced sound.

Music video shot overnight in Marseille

The accompanying music video was filmed overnight in the streets of Marseille using an iPhone 17 Pro. The video follows dancer Nora Monsecour through a series of nighttime scenes set around a laundromat, city streets and a bar.

Directed by (LA)Horde, the video explores themes of desire and female empowerment while placing Angele at the centre of the story as a commanding presence moving through the city at night.

Angèle also gained global recognition after collaborating with Dua Lipa on the bilingual hit Fever in 2020.

The filmmakers said they were interested in exploring how a new generation of artists could reinterpret the French Touch electronic tradition, a movement historically dominated by male producers.

A collaboration sparked backstage

The collaboration between Angele and Justice began in December 2024 after she attended a Justice concert in Brussels with her mother. The two artists met backstage and continued the conversation in the studio, where Angèle played them early demo versions of songs she had been working on.

One of those demos was What You Want, which Angele had written earlier but had set aside because she felt it was missing something. Justice later returned with a revised version that added more tension and energy to the track.

Angèle said the goal was to combine their musical worlds while maintaining each artist’s identity.

Global pop momentum continues

Her debut album Brol (2018) sold more than a million copies and produced several widely recognised songs, including Balance ton quoi. Her second album Nonante-Cinq (2021) expanded her international audience through arena tours and festival appearances.

Justice, comprising Gaspard Auge and Xavier de Rosnay, first rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with tracks such as D.A.N.C.E. and Waters of Nazareth, helping define the French electronic music movement.

Their latest album Hyperdrama continues to blend disco, techno, and experimental influences.

With What You Want, the collaboration positions Angèle at the intersection of contemporary pop and French electronic music.
