Kuantan residents happy with Rahmah Mobile Sales

KUANTAN: The low prices offered at Mobile Rahmah Sales were a relief to the residents of Tanah Putih Baru housing here, as they can save money on essential goods.

Private sector worker, Khamsani Yahaya, 42, said he did not pass up the opportunity to get various items such as rice and cooking oil which were sold at cheap prices and felt it was worth buying them.

“I buy most of the things that were on sale, but the most worthwhile purchase is rice which was sold at RM15 for a five-kilogramme (kg) bag and RM25 for five-kg bottle of cooking oil… it is a big help to us.

“This sales programme was held for the first time in our residential area and I hope it will be organised again to help people get goods at a reasonable price,“ the mother of three told Bernama.

Senior citizen Wan Zaitun Wan Long, 63, hopes that the sales programme will be held every week to help the people get goods at a low price, especially wet ingredients such as chicken which is sold at RM10 per piece.

“I could see that this programme was well received as many people came, I didn’t want to miss out on coming here and buying some cheap items. In fact, organising it in a residential area makes it easier for people to get goods without having to go far,“ he said.

A Bernama survey found that despite the rain, residents still lined up to get various items through the rakyat sale, which started at 10 am.

Meanwhile, Kampung Tanah Putih Tok Ampat Johari Kamal said the initiative of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living could benefit about 1,000 heads of households in the area.

“I see that the purchasing system is also well-organised, buyers don’t have to fight to get their necessities and I plan to apply for this sale to be held here again because of the favourable response from the residents,“ he said.–Bernama
