BATU GAJAH: Some 45,000 visitors are expected to visit the Dinosaur Encounter Educational and Amusement Park : Area 65 at Silverlakes Village Outlet (SVO) Commercial Centre during its first phase opening beginning today.

Wegrow Global general manager Dr. Anir Syazwan Sharbirin said the target was set within 45 days before the opening of the second phase next year.

He expressed confidence that the dinosaur theme park would create a new phenomenon in attracting tourists, aligning with the initiatives of the Visit Perak Year (TMP) 2024.

“The Dinosaur Encounter in Batu Gajah is the sixth dinosaur park in Malaysia showcasing a new concept, a combination of indoor and outdoor amusement park with international standards.

Certainly, it will provide a seemingly real dinosaur exploration experience based on science to visitors, simultaneously realising learning through direct experience,“ he told a media briefing at Taman Didik Hibur Dinosaur Encounter: Area 65 prelaunch here today.

Also present were Tourism Perak chief executive officer Nurmalis Musa, Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) president Mohamad Razif Ramli and Tronoh assemblyman Steven Tiw Tee Siang.

Anir Syazwan, who is also Wegrow Global’s chief technology officer, added that the dinosaur amusement park was developed using augmented and virtual reality, animatronics as well as modern technology to enhance and refine the content outline, providing an immersive experience.

“The theme, Area 65: Back from Extinction, introduces more unique and exclusive elements, such as the ‘Dino Matrix,‘ a mixed reality experience showcasing immersive 5D motion adventures.

“This technology will be presented to visitors in the upcoming second phase. It is the first of its kind in Malaysia, developed with a RM15 million investment to allow visitors to delve into a ‘cloning laboratory’ of dinosaurs brought to life with cutting-edge technology,“ he said.

Meanwhile, Steven Tiw in commending Wegrow Global and Silverland Capital Sdn Bhd for collaborating to create Dinosaur Encounter in an effort to enhance new tourism products in Perak, especially in Batu Gajah, urged local and foreign tourists not to miss the fascinating show.

In addition to Batu Gajah SVO, Dinosaur Encounter can also be experienced at the National Science Centre, Melaka Zoo, Teruntum Pahang Zoo, Terengganu Science and Creativity Centre (PSKT) and Putrajaya Wetland Studios.

Dinosaur Encounter Area 65 ticket for adults is priced at RM30 and RM20 for children (MyKad or MyKid card holders) while the normal price is RM40 for adults and RM30 for children.

The dinosaur educational and amusement park operates from 11 am to 6 pm every Monday to Thursday, and on weekends from Friday to Sunday, including public holidays, from 10 am to 7 pm.

For the pre-launch first phase, five sectors are open to visitors, namely DNA Captures, DNA Dino Lab, Dino Clone Zone, Dino Warp, and Dino Realm VR. -Bernama
