SHAH ALAM: The Selangor-Gaza Ehsan Development Fund has collected more than RM2 million in March, since it was launched in the same month, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said that the state government aims to collect as much as RM8.7 million, to be utilised through the implementation of several development projects, namely the construction of the Darul Ehsan Apartment, the Darul Ehsan Mosque and the Darul Ehsan Water Tank Tower.
Amirudin also expressed his admiration for the generosity shown by the community, in supporting the state government's initiative to help rebuild the Gaza region in Palestine.
“It is hoped that this high spirit of humanity will continue to blossom in us, which is not only limited within our state and locality or people we know, but rather with a universal spirit of humanity which brings prosperity and happiness,” he said.
He said this in a video message, in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration on his official Facebook page today.
On March 28, in conjunction with the Nuzul Quran, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, launched the fund during the opening ceremony of the Kota Kemuning Mosque, donation presentation and breaking of the fast with the people.
Sultan Sharafuddin also received donations from the Selangor Muslim Fund of RM1.2 million, the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (RM200,000) and Amirudin's personal donation of RM50,000, to be channelled into the fund.
Meanwhile, Amirudin, in his message, hoped that the month of Ramadan had succeeded in having an impact on the soul and behaviour of every individual, which could be translated into everyday life.
