Ewon: INSKEN aims to train 10,000 entrepreneur this year

CYBERJAYA: The National Institute of Entrepreneurship (INSKEN) aims to train 10,000 entrepreneurs this year, up from 9,700 trained last year across the country, said Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick (pix).

He noted that last year’s trained entrepreneurs performed exceptionally well, with some experiencing up to a 75 per cent increase in sales after completing the institute’s coaching programme.

“This shows that INSKEN is an important agency for entrepreneurial guidance in the country, and the ministry will keep backing it to offer top support for our entrepreneurs,” he told the media after INSKEN Hari Raya Open House here, today.

Ewon said several entrepreneurship programmes are scheduled this year to assist 10,000 entrepreneurs, adding that research shows that micro and small entrepreneurs are predominantly engaged in the service sector.

INSKEN is an agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) that offers entrepreneurial capacity development initiatives through training programmes and guidance, with a list of training available on their website https://www.insken.gov.my/pendaftaran/.

He said the next Mega MADANI Entrepreneur and Sales Carnival (KUJMM) organised by KUSKOP will be on May 11 and 12 at Kuala Penyu, Sabah, coinciding with the Pesta Kaamatan.

“We’ll run the same programme nationwide regularly, and we’re planning the National Cooperative Month Celebration, Franchise Day and MADANI Cooperative Sales afterwards,“ he said on the ministry’s plans for the year.
