Mother, disabled daughter perish in morning fire

IPOH: A senior citizen and her disabled daughter were burnt to death in a fire incident in Kampung Air Tarung, Jalan Air Ganda, Gerik, early this morning.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Sayani Saidon said the police report of the incident was received by the Gerik Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) at 7.38 am.

He said the fire department team, upon arrival at the scene of the incident, found that 95 per cent of the hut in an orchard was destroyed in the fire.

“There are two victims – a 76-year-old female victim and her 43-year-old daughter, who was visually impaired – who were found burnt to death,” he said in a statement here today.

Sayani said the remains of the two victims were handed over to the police at 9 am, for further action.–Bernama
