LABUAN: In anticipation of the increase in passenger volume in conjunction with the Christmas celebration tomorrow, Labuan Mainland Link Sdn Bhd, the roll on-roll off (ro-ro) ferry operator for Labuan-Menumbok-Labuan routes, is providing hourly trips.

The ferry management company operates four ferries—Putrajaya 1, Goodwill Star, Kimanis 2, and Joy Star.

The flagship ferry, Putrajaya 1, boasts a capacity of 85 vehicles and 500 passengers. Goodwill Star accommodates 85 vehicles and 420 passengers, while Kimanis 1 and Joy Star each cater to 55 vehicles and 220 passengers.

LML chairman Datuk Chin Hon Vui said with an estimated influx of thousands of Sabahans returning to their hometowns, Labuan Point Enterprise, the ticketing management company for the ferries, is well-prepared for the expected exodus.

He said Labuan Point Enterprise opened its counters for the Christmas ‘balik kampung’ ticket sales a month ago and also applied for additional trips from the Labuan Marine Department.

“We provide at least six to nine trips daily from 7.30am to 8pm on the Labuan-Menumbok-Labuan route to cater to the increasing demand,“ he added. - Bernama
