iCAUR V23 scores 91.02 in ASEAN NCAP, setting a safety benchmark for electric SUVs in Malaysia

THE iCAUR V23 has earned a full five-star rating under the ASEAN New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asia, marking a significant milestone for the brand in Malaysia. Tested under the current 2021–2025 ASEAN NCAP protocol, the all-electric off-road SUV recorded an impressive overall score of 91.02 points, placing it among the top-performing vehicles assessed under the latest standards and making it the first fully electric off-road SUV to undergo evaluation by ASEAN NCAP.

The strong result highlights the V23’s balanced performance across all major assessment areas, reflecting iCAUR’s focus on combining advanced safety engineering with a distinctive, lifestyle-oriented approach to electric mobility. The vehicle scored 39.71 points for Adult Occupant Protection, 16.67 points for Child Occupant Protection, 17.14 points for Safety Assist Technologies and 17.50 points for Motorcyclist Safety, delivering a comprehensive showing across the board.

The achievement reinforces iCAUR Malaysia’s emphasis on placing safety at the core of its product development, while supporting national efforts to raise vehicle safety standards through close cooperation with local authorities and research bodies. The V23’s performance demonstrates that a vehicle designed with adventure and off-road capability in mind can also meet stringent safety expectations for everyday use.

At the heart of the iCAUR V23 is a robust structural design built around a cage-like body structure that uses 70 per cent high-strength steel. This rigid foundation is complemented by a sophisticated Battery Management System that provides high-voltage protection and precise liquid-cooled temperature control. Together, these systems are engineered to help keep occupants and the battery pack protected, even in the event of a collision, whether the vehicle is used for daily commuting or more demanding driving conditions.

Safety technology plays a central role in the V23’s overall package. Both the 2WD and iWD variants are equipped as standard with six airbags and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System. Detection accuracy is further enhanced by a millimetre-wave radar that is seamlessly integrated into the vehicle’s body, allowing the systems to function reliably across a wide range of traffic and road scenarios.

The standard driver assistance suite includes autonomous emergency braking, drive-away information alerts, front and rear collision warnings, lane change and lane departure warnings, lane departure prevention, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, blind-spot detection and door opening warning. These features work together to provide a strong layer of active safety support, contributing significantly to the V23’s high ASEAN NCAP scores.

The five-star rating underlines iCAUR’s holistic approach to safety and its commitment to offering Malaysian customers greater peace of mind without compromising on design or capability. It also strengthens the V23’s position in the growing electric vehicle market, particularly among buyers looking for something more rugged and distinctive.
