Malaysia’s National Audit Department and Turkiye’s Supreme Audit Institution sign an MoU to collaborate on digital, climate and SDG audits.
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia and Turkiye have formalised a partnership to enhance technical cooperation in public sector auditing.
The National Audit Department (JAN) and the Turkish Court of Accounts signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at JAN’s headquarters.
Auditor-General Datuk Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi and Turkish Court of Accounts President Metin Yener presided over the signing ceremony.
The agreement marks the first direct institutional pact between the two nations’ supreme audit bodies.
An initial three-year action plan will focus on collaboration in digitalisation audit, climate change and environmental audit.
Cooperation will also extend to auditing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other specialised fields.
“The ceremony reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthen professional ties,” JAN said in a statement.
The MoU facilitates joint training programmes, working visits and knowledge-sharing sessions.
It aims to strengthen engagement on international platforms like the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI).
Both institutions also collaborate within the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
The Supreme Audit Institution of Turkiye is a member of two working groups chaired by Malaysia’s Auditor-General.
These are the INTOSAI Working Group on Follow-up Audit and the ASOSAI Working Group on State-Owned Enterprises Audit.
JAN stated the MoU will serve as a foundation for transformative cooperation.
It is expected to support agendas for integrity, transparency and effective public financial management.
This cooperation is targeted at the national, regional and international levels. – Bernama
