Anwar urges balance between modern technology and moral integrity to prevent misuse of AI and digital knowledge for fraud.

TANGKAK: Mastery of modern technology and new disciplines needs to be balanced with the application of strong moral values and integrity to produce a generation that can contribute meaningfully to the country’s progress.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government strongly encourages the exploration of future fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital technology and quantum computing.

However, he said the achievement of such knowledge would not be meaningful if it was not guided by faith and a strong moral foundation.

He said the lack of balance between knowledge and ethics was feared to be capable of destroying the ecosystem of society, especially when there were smart individuals who misused their intelligence for the purpose of fraud and treachery.

“Gaining knowledge is to be smart, yes, but the main thing is to seek the truth and become a good human being. There were smart people in our history, but smart people stole or robbed, and in the end the country was ruined,” he said when speaking at the Sentuhan Sahabat Madani Programme in Bukit Gambir here, today.
