The forest fire in Bandar Puncak Alam covering 4.45 hectares was fully controlled by 1.30 pm; operation ended at 3 pm.

SHAH ALAM: The forest fire extinguishing operation in the hilly area of Bandar Puncak Alam, near here, was fully controlled by 1.30 pm before the operation ended at 3 pm today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the fire involved a hilly area covering approximately 4.45 hectares.

He said the firefighting operation involved personnel from the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Bukit Jelutong BBP and the Saujana Utama Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS).

“The Bestari Jaya BBP conducted firefighting operations in the hilly area near a school football field, while the Bukit Jelutong BBP carried out firefighting in the hilly area near a residential area, whereas the Saujana Utama PBS conducted firefighting in the hilly area beside a school near a residential area,” he said in a statement today.

Ashrul Riezal also said that after the fire was successfully extinguished, the firefighters carried out an inspection around the location to ensure there were no more sources that could reignite the fire before the operation was concluded.

He added that two schools near the incident location, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Puncak Alam 2 and Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) Puncak Alam, were temporarily closed during the firefighting operation on the orders of the Kuala Selangor District Education Office.
