Crash probe papers involving military officer to be submitted tomorrow

Police will submit investigation papers on a fatal crash involving a military officer suspected of drink driving to the state prosecution director tomorrow.

KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation paper into the fatal crash involving a military officer suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol will be submitted to the state prosecution director tomorrow for further action, according to police.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said police have also obtained an extension of remand for the 31-year-old man until tomorrow to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“Police have recorded statements from 12 witnesses for the purpose of investigating this accident,” he said in a statement today.

Police received a report of the accident involving a Perodua Alza e-hailing multi-purpose vehicle and a Ford Fiesta at 5.38 am on April 23.

Preliminary investigations found that the Ford Fiesta, driven by the military officer, is believed to have entered the opposite lane before colliding with the Perodua Alza driven by a 41-year-old man carrying two passengers from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

As a result of the collision, a 22-year-old Bangladeshi male e-hailing passenger died at the scene from severe head injuries, while a 20-year-old Bangladeshi female passenger was injured.
