A former civil servant faces five counts of criminal breach of trust involving over RM416,000, with the case set for mention on March 31
KANGAR: A former accounts manager for an Area Farmers’ Organisation (PPK) pleaded not guilty to five counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving a total of RM416,503.91.
Rohaliza Roais, 37, entered her plea before Sessions Court Judge Datuk Nu’aman Mahmud Zuhudi.
The charges allege she dishonestly misused the organisation’s receipts by breaching cash receipt recording procedures between 2020 and 2024.
The first count involves RM116,299.61 allegedly misappropriated in 2020.
Subsequent charges involve sums of RM83,207.60 (2021), RM86,890.20 (2022), RM87,369.75 (2023), and RM42,736.75 (2024).
All offences were allegedly committed at the PPK office in Perlis.
The charges are framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which carries a potential prison term of two to 20 years, whipping, and a possible fine upon conviction.
The court granted Rohaliza bail of RM10,000 with one surety.
She was also ordered to surrender her passport and report monthly to the Perlis Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office.
The case has been set for mention on March 31 for the submission of documents.
MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Atikah Ab Rashid and Perlis MACC Prosecuting Officer S. Sujatha conducted the prosecution.
Lawyer Datuk Ghazali Cha represented the accused.
