Lorry owner fined RM3,500 for obstructing JPJ officer in Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU: A lorry owner was fined 3,500 ringgit by the Magistrate’s Court here today for obstructing a Road Transport Department officer from carrying out his duties.

Magistrate Noor Mazrinie Mahmood imposed the fine on Mohammad A’imullah Che Ambok, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

The 31-year-old was charged with committing the offence during a JPJ check conducted in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Air, Jalan Tepoh here at 1.30 pm last Wednesday.

The charge falls under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail sentence of two years or a fine of up to 10,000 ringgit upon conviction.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nur Anith Nabilah Rusli during the court proceedings.

The accused was represented by his lawyer Abdul Hayyi Salim throughout the legal process. – Bernama
