Updated Terengganu syariah guidelines for events and entertainment are in the final stage for state executive council approval before formal enforcement.
KUALA TERENGGANU: The updated Terengganu State Syariah Guidelines document is in its final stage for consideration and approval by the state executive council (MMKN).
State Information, Dakwah and Syariah Empowerment Committee chairman Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi said the document will be published and launched once approved. It will then be formally enforced.
“The guidelines cover three main components, namely the core principles for events and entertainment; classifications of events and entertainment; and several other activities,” he told the state legislative assembly.
He stated the guidelines aim to assist the state government, local authorities, enforcement agencies, event organisers, venue operators, and tourism operators. They are intended to help in planning, implementing and regulating related activities.
The state government has also held several discussions and engagement workshops with stakeholders. These sessions were conducted through a designated secretariat to obtain comprehensive feedback.
