Activist remanded over Facebook threat in Seremban

A 34-year-old activist is remanded for two days over an alleged criminal threat made on Facebook, with the investigation ongoing

SEREMBAN: An activist suspected of making a criminal threat against a man through Facebook has been remanded for two days from today to assist investigations into the case.

The remand order against the 34-year-old man was issued by Magistrate Naeilah Nikrul Tarmizi at the Magistrate’s Court here to enable investigations under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Yesterday, Negeri Sembilan Police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad was reported as saying that the man surrendered at the Port Dickson District Police Headquarters (IPD) after he was believed to have fled to Thailand since March.

He said police received a report from a man at 6.25 pm on March 10, claiming that he had been threatened by the suspect on the social media platform, and efforts were made to trace him in Kajang, Selangor.

However, the man was believed to have fled to Thailand via Bukit Kayu Hitam on March 9, and recently entered Malaysia through an illegal route at the Kelantan border before surrendering himself.
