Police net 16 summonses and seize seven motorcycles in Ops Khas Samseng Jalanan targeting illegal street racing in Klang.
KLANG: Police issued 16 summonses for various traffic offences, seized seven motorcycles and opened an investigation into a motorcyclist during Ops Khas Samseng Jalanan, targeting illegal street racing along Persiaran Raja Muda Musa (Lebuh Turi) here early today.
Klang Selatan police chief ACP Lim Jit Huey said the operation, conducted from 12.01 am to 5 am, involved the district police headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) with the cooperation of the Selangor JSPT, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK).
The operation was aimed at curbing illegal street racing, detecting traffic offences and enhancing compliance with road traffic laws.
“During the operation, police inspected 13 individuals and 13 motorcycles, resulting in the 16 summonses and the seizure of seven motorcycles for further action,” he said in a statement today.
An investigation had also been opened under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 against a motorcyclist for reckless and dangerous riding.
He said 12 individuals underwent urine screening by AADK, with all testing negative for drugs, adding that police would continue conducting such operations to curb illegal street racing and ensure roads in the South Klang district remain safe, secure and orderly.
Lim also urged the public to comply with road traffic laws and practise safe and responsible driving for the safety of all road users.
