Boy dies after being hit by SUV in Rembau

A nine-year-old boy was killed after being struck by an SUV while playing on a road in Kota, Rembau, with police investigating the incident

REMBAU: A nine-year-old boy was killed after he was believed to have been struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) while playing on a road behind a school in Kota here today.

Acting Rembau police chief DSP Azmi Ali said that in the incident, which occurred at about 5 pm, the victim was believed to have been playing on the road without parental supervision before being struck by a passing Perodua Aruz.

“The boy was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining severe injuries in the collision.

“Traffic investigation officers are conducting investigations at the scene to determine the exact cause of the accident,” he said when contacted today.

He said the victim was subsequently taken to Rembau Hospital for further procedures before a post-mortem examination was conducted.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and further investigations are ongoing.
