A suspect with 13 prior criminal and drug records has been arrested for a temple theft in Cheras involving losses of RM30,000.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a 32-year-old man to assist in investigations into a theft at a temple in Taman Maluri, Cheras, which resulted in losses totalling RM30,000.
Cheras district police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud said the suspect was apprehended in the Taman Maluri area yesterday afternoon, with tools believed to have been used in the crime also seized.
A background check on the suspect revealed he has 13 prior records for various criminal and narcotics offences, according to a police statement.
The suspect’s initial urine screening also tested positive for amphetamines and methamphetamines, Mohd Rosdi added.
He has been remanded for seven days until March 21 to facilitate further investigations under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.
