Myanmar cook killed in stabbing at Bukit Mertajam restaurant

Myanmar cook stabbed to death after argument over food quality at ala Thai restaurant in Bukit Mertajam; three suspects arrested

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A Myanmar cook was stabbed to death following an argument over food quality at a Thai restaurant in Lorong Bukit Juru last night.

The woman’s husband and friend, also Myanmar nationals, sustained bodily injuries during the 9 pm incident.

The altercation began when the suspect and several compatriots expressed dissatisfaction with their meal at the restaurant.

All parties argued with the victim and her husband, both in their 40s, before the woman ordered them to leave the premises.

The suspect then contacted his brother and returned to the restaurant armed with a knife, stabbing the victim to death.

Penang Police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed police have arrested three Myanmar men, including the suspect and his brother, to assist investigations.

“The suspect is believed to have been drunk at the time of the fight,” he said, adding that investigations are being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

All victims were taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment.

The Magistrate’s Court issued a seven-day remand order against the trio today to facilitate further investigations.

The 40-year-old suspect, his 34-year-old brother, and another 50-year-old man will be remanded until November 23.

Alfa Romeo Marks the Quadrifoglio Legacy with Exclusive Giulia and Stelvio Collezione Models

Alfa Romeo has introduced two highly exclusive creations, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Collezione and Stelvio Quadrifoglio Collezione, developed in tribute to one of the brand’s most enduring icons — the Quadrifoglio. The emblem, first painted onto Ugo Sivocci’s Alfa Romeo RL when he won the 1923 Targa Florio, became the mark of the brand’s racing machinery for decades. In 1963 it shifted from the circuit to the road with the Giulia Ti Super, and from then on it distinguished Alfa Romeo’s most powerful and exclusive road-going models. That pivotal year forms the inspiration for this new Collezione series, which has been limited to just 63 units worldwide. Two Giulia units have been earmarked for the UK, while the rest will be distributed across Europe, the Middle East, China and Japan.
