Police arrest three suspected burglars in Melaka Tengah operations

Melaka police arrested three suspects linked to 10 housebreaking cases, seizing stolen items including gold plates, old coins, and electronics

MELAKA TENGAH: Police have arrested three individuals suspected of involvement in several housebreaking cases around Melaka Tengah district.

The arrests of two men, aged 33 and 29, and a 24-year-old woman were made on December 15 following months of intelligence gathering.

Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said a police team from the Criminal Investigation Division carried out the operations.

“Two suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested at an antique shop in Jalan Munshi,” he said in a statement.

A subsequent raid at a house in Pokok Mangga led to the arrest of another male suspect and the seizure of case items.

Christopher said further interrogation found all suspects were involved in 10 housebreaking cases reported in the district.

Investigation revealed the two men are siblings, while the woman is believed to be the girlfriend of one suspect.

Police seized various items believed to be stolen, including gold plates and old coins of various currencies.

Other seized items include various mobile phones, a laptop, an iPad, watches, gloves, headgear, and tools like iron cutters and a knife.

One suspect has 20 previous records for crime and drug offences, while the other two have no criminal records.

All suspects are remanded until December 29 to assist in the investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
