Police seize suspected IEDs after arresting injured suspect in Nilai

Police in Negeri Sembilan have arrested a man and seized suspected IEDs following an explosion in Desa Palma, with more devices found at his rented house

NILAI: Police found several objects suspected to be improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with a man arrested along a road in the Batang Benar area yesterday afternoon.

The arrest is linked to an explosion incident in Desa Palma on Dec 22.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said police also seized a motorcycle believed to have been used by the 62-year-old man.

“A body inspection found burn injuries on his face, body, hands and legs,” he said in a statement.

Alzafny said the suspect was in a weakened condition at the time of arrest and was taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for treatment.

He advised the public not to speculate on the case and to continue channelling any information to the police.

The arrest was made following information from the public.

Last Friday, Alzafny said the suspect, known as ‘Ayang’, was believed to possess technical knowledge and specific skills in making explosive materials.

This assessment was based on devices and equipment seized at the man’s rented house.

Police also found another 31 IEDs at his residence and have destroyed all the explosive materials.

The initial investigation began after police received a public report about an object exploding and nails being scattered in the Desa Palma area last Monday.
