Fahmi Fadzil praises TV industry on World Television Day

Communications Minister hails television workforce as backbone of Malaysia’s information, education, and entertainment landscape.

KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today expressed his appreciation to Malaysia’s television industry, describing its workforce as the backbone of delivering information and entertainment to the public.

“Voices, stories and realities. Thank you to everyone in television who forms the backbone of our information and entertainment landscape.

“Happy World Television Day!” he posted on Facebook.

In December 1996, the United Nations proclaimed Nov 21 as World Television Day, commemorating the date on which the first World Television Forum was held that year.

The United Nations also recognises television as a positive source of education and entertainment, as well as an important medium that supports freedom of expression and promotes cultural diversity.

The observance also highlights television’s enduring role as a medium of information, education and entertainment with significant impact on society. – Bernama
