FELCRA denies links to chemical waste barrels in Jempol

FELCRA denies any connection to chemical barrels found near its plantation, stating the land is private and pledging full cooperation with authorities.

KUALA LUMPUR: FELCRA Berhad has denied any association with the discovery of barrels filled with chemicals near the Ayer Hitam Felcra Plantation in Negeri Sembilan.

FELCRA said that the location where the barrels were found was private land and not under its supervision.

“The discovery was made during a routine patrol on April 14 and immediate action was taken by reporting to the police for further investigation.

“FELCRA will cooperate fully with the authorities, including the Department of Environment (DOE) and urges all parties to refrain from speculation until the investigation is completed,” FELCRA said in a statement today.

The discovery of 26 barrels filled with chemical waste in the area had been previously reported by local media outlets.
