Floods in Sarawak force 380 people to shelters, a near doubling from the morning, with Johor and Melaka also reporting displaced residents.
KUCHING: The number of flood evacuees in Sarawak nearly doubled to 380 people from 97 families as of 4 pm today.
This is an increase from the 197 victims recorded this morning, according to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.
All affected individuals are from the Taman Desa Wira and Kampung Sinar Budi Baru areas in Kuching.

They have been moved to two temporary evacuation centres.
The Stapok Community Hall is now housing 199 victims from 53 families.
The R-Piang Hall in Kampung Sinar Budi Baru is accommodating 181 victims from 44 families.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department issued a continuous rain warning for several Sarawak areas from today until tomorrow.
Affected areas include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman and Betong.
In Johor, the number of flood victims in Segamat rose to 120 people from 35 families.
Johor JPBN chairman Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman said the increase followed the opening of two new relief centres this morning.
The Balai Raya Kuala Paya is housing 23 victims from five families.
The Balai Raya Kampung Sanglang is accommodating 14 victims from four families.
Two other centres that opened earlier are still operating.
The Kampung Tasek Multipurpose Hall houses 43 victims from 14 families.
The Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak is accommodating 40 victims from 12 families.
In Melaka, the number of flood victims remained at 36 people from eight families.
All are housed at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Parit Penghulu relief centre.
Their homes in Kampung Parit Perawas Benteng and Kampung Tasek Benteng were affected by flooding.
The flooding is believed to be caused by overflowing waters from Sungai Rambai.
In Pahang, flooding in Rompin has fully subsided.
All 81 victims from 21 families housed at a relief centre were allowed to return home today.
The Kampung Setajam Village Hall PPS in Rompin was closed at 10.30 am. – Bernama
