HRD Corp restructuring and governance upgrade set for March completion

HRD Corp’s restructuring and governance enhancement is on track for completion by late March, says Human Resources Minister R. Ramanan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resource Development Corporation’s restructuring and governance enhancement process is expected to be fully completed by late March.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the measures aim to upgrade the agency’s operations to prevent future issues.

He clarified that this is not a “clean-up” exercise as alleged by certain parties.

“We are upgrading, making sure we are putting all the correct tools in place so that no problems will arise after this,” he told a press conference.

The minister was speaking after launching the First Immersive MYFutureJobs Career Exploration Centre.

Ramanan said the changes also address various weaknesses previously raised in the Auditor-General’s findings.

Commenting on recent officer suspensions, he urged all parties to allow the investigation process to conclude first.

HRD Corp recently suspended three more members of its management to strengthen institutional discipline.

Chief executive officer Datuk Shamir Aziz said the move reflects the organisation’s commitment to enhancing governance standards.

He stated it ensures national workforce development resources are managed transparently, efficiently and accountably.

On key appointments, Ramanan said priority is always given to professionals with credibility.

He confirmed no political appointments have been made at this time.

“So far, those appointed include a former CEO of a GLC commission and a former deputy secretary-general of the Treasury,” he said.

Ramanan added that this is the calibre of people being placed into positions.
