The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone’s master plan and investment blueprint are being finalised for a March 30 launch in Johor Bahru
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Economy is finalising the master plan and investment blueprint for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the launch is scheduled for March 30 in Johor Bahru.
He stated the action plan will serve as a public reference, while the more detailed master plan will guide all implementing parties.
“The blueprint is for public reference, while the master plan is for reference by all implementing parties,” he told reporters after launching the MyRMK monitoring system.
Akmal Nasrullah said the investment blueprint will detail the JS-SEZ’s development direction, investment strategy, and project implementation.
The launch is part of efforts to strengthen economic ties between Malaysia and Singapore.
It also aims to stimulate economic growth in the country’s southern region.
The minister said the Johor state government will be involved, with Singaporean ministers also expected to attend.
The JS-SEZ is a strategic initiative to strengthen economic integration and attract new investment.
It aims to transform Johor’s economic landscape and achieve a gross domestic product of RM260 billion by 2030.
The zone also targets a shift toward an innovation-driven economy.
It aims to create over 20,000 high-skilled jobs.
