Sultan Ibrahim grants royal assent to eight laws including the Gig Workers Act and Anti-Bullying Act, with the Speaker urging MPs to uphold decorum.
KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has granted Royal Assent to eight laws passed during the last parliamentary session.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul announced the assent before the start of Ministers’ Question Time today.
The newly assented acts are the Fisheries (Amendment) Act 2025 and the Gig Workers Act 2025.
Also included are the Consumer Credit Act 2025 and the Supply Act 2026.

The Finance Act 2025 and the Measures for the Collection, Administration and Enforcement of Tax Act 2025 have also received assent.
Completing the list are the Private Agencies (Amendment) Act 2025 and the Anti-Bullying Act 2025.
In his proclamation, Johari reminded Members of Parliament to strictly adhere to the Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders.
“I hope that all Honourable Members will uphold the principles of courtesy and decency, as pledged earlier, in every action and speech within this august House,” he said.
He reiterated the King’s reminder to MPs about their roles and the prohibition against exploiting racial, religious and royal sentiments.
Johari added that he and the Deputy Speakers would not hesitate to take action against any MP who fails to comply with the rules.
Earlier, the Dewan Rakyat recited the Rukun Negara pledge for the first time before the session began.
The House also expressed condolences to the family of the late Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
Johari called on Muslim MPs to recite al-Fatihah and non-Muslims to observe a moment of silence. – Bernama
