KLIA Terminal 1 launches a green lane trial for faster customs clearance, with plans to expand to other airports
SEPANG: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 has begun implementing a green lane system for customs clearance to ease congestion and improve the flow of international passengers.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the system introduces three exit lanes after baggage claim — two green lanes for passengers with nothing to declare and one red lane for those required to declare items or pay duties.
The system is being implemented under a one-month trial period starting today until 26 February, during which its effectiveness will be closely monitored and operational procedures refined.
“Once the SOP is finalised, the same system will be rolled out at KLIA Terminal 2 and other international airports, including Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang and Johor Bahru,” he added.
