KPDN takes 445 enforcement actions during Deepavali price scheme

PUTRAJAYA: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry executed 445 enforcement actions during the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme for Deepavali 2025.

This enforcement operation covered the period from October 16 to October 22 across the country.

Ministry enforcement teams conducted 4,560 inspections at various business premises nationwide during the scheme’s implementation.

These inspections targeted wholesale, manufacturing, and retail sectors to ensure price compliance.

Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam detailed the breakdown of violations in an official statement.

A total of 433 cases involved businesses failing to use the required special pink price tags for controlled items.

Six separate cases were recorded for not displaying any price tags on goods.

Another six enforcement actions addressed sellers charging above the maximum permitted prices.

The total value of items seized during these operations reached RM16,078.40.

Authorities also issued compounds totaling RM53,500 to businesses violating the regulations.

Azman stated the scheme demonstrates the government’s ongoing commitment to price control.

He emphasised the importance of protecting consumers from unreasonable price hikes during festive periods.

Overall compliance from traders was described as satisfactory throughout the monitoring period.

The director-general acknowledged the good cooperation shown by most business operators.

Monitoring results and public feedback indicated smooth implementation of the price control initiative.

KPDN expressed appreciation to industry players and traders for their commitment to the scheme.
