KPKM allocates over RM20 million to KADA for strategic projects

The Agriculture Ministry has allocated RM20.55 million to KADA for pump station upgrades and smart farming technology, alongside RM4.62 million in flood compensation for Kelantan farmers.

KOTA BHARU: The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry has allocated RM20.55 million for strategic projects under the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority this year.

Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the funding is part of the 13th Malaysia Plan.

Key projects include upgrading the Kemubu and Kasa pump stations and implementing mechanisation and smart technology for rice granaries.

“The MADANI government has never sidelined the state of Kelantan,” Mohamad said at an event here.

He detailed that RM28 million was spent on the pump stations and RM40 million on the mechanical pump system.

The minister also announced RM4.62 million in compensation for farmers affected by major floods in December.

The floods destroyed over 1,500 hectares of padi crops in Kelantan.

Mohamad said RM3.58 million went to 465 farmers under KADA’s supervision.

A further RM146,000 was allocated to farmers in the Integrated Agriculture Development Area of Kemasin Semerak.

Another RM891,000 was provided to 206 farmers outside granaries supervised by the state Agriculture Department.

Payments are being made in phases through Agrobank for quick and efficient assistance.
