Malaysia’s new MAB Academy Simulator Building in Sepang aims to strengthen the country’s position as a leading regional aviation training hub
SEPANG: Malaysia has taken a significant step towards strengthening its aviation training ecosystem with the launch of MAB Academy’s Simulator Building.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the new facility represents a timely and important investment in Malaysia’s aviation future.
“Malaysia’s strategic geographical position places us in a unique position to become a leading aviation hub in the region,” Loke said at the launch.
He stated that this ambition must be supported by strong human capital and world-class training capabilities.
Loke emphasised that robust training institutions are essential to ensure competent, safety-conscious professionals underpin industry growth.
The minister added that training excellence is fundamental to safety, operational quality and global competitiveness.
He said investments in skills and training also help nurture a society that values science and critical thinking.
The Simulator Building features six full-flight simulator bays, including the A330neo, Boeing 737-800NG and ATR 72-500.
The facility marks the completion of MAB Academy’s transformation from the 40-year-old Subang Training Centre.
On safety, Loke reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to strong regulatory oversight via the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
He also underscored the importance of sustainability as a defining priority for the sector.
“This transformation will require a workforce that is trained to support sustainable aviation practices,” Loke added.
He said continued collaboration can position Malaysia as an attractive destination for regional and international trainees.
Malaysia Aviation Group managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said the launch marks an important milestone in their transformation journey.
“This facility strengthens our commitment by ensuring that training is relevant and rigorous,” he said.
The launch further cements MAB Academy as a regional training powerhouse.
