Malaysia and Brunei reaffirm commitment to strengthen bilateral relations built on trust, mutual respect and consensus in facing regional and global challenges.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Brunei have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations founded on trust, mutual respect and consensus in addressing regional and global challenges.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this was among the key matters discussed during his audience with the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, in the capital tonight.

“In an atmosphere of mutual respect, we expressed our shared commitment to strengthen the special relationship between Malaysia and Brunei, anchored in trust, confidence and consensus in facing regional and global challenges,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.

He described the ties between the two nations as extending far beyond formal diplomacy.

“This relationship is not merely diplomatic in nature, but a bond of brotherhood rooted in history, strengthened by sincerity and guided by a common determination to safeguard the well-being of the people of both countries,” he said.

Anwar also expressed hope that the longstanding friendship between Malaysia and Brunei would continue to flourish, paving the way for a future that is more peaceful, stable and prosperous for both nations.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11: The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) has confirmed Malaysia's contingents for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, following its 216th Executive Council Meeting and 45th Annual General Assembly.Malaysia will send a 104-member delegation to the XXIII Commonwealth Games in Scotland from July 23 to Aug 2, comprising 59 athletes and 45 officials.The squad will feature 37 able-bodied athletes and 22 para-athletes competing in eight of the 10 sports on the programme.Two-time Paralympic long jump gold medallist Datuk Abdul Latif Romly has been named Malaysia's flag bearer for the opening ceremony, while world No. 1 lawn bowler Emma Firyana Saroji will carry the King's Baton.
