PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with both leaders agreeing to deepen bilateral ties across energy, technology and trade.
The discussions centred on securing long-term oil and energy supply arrangements, with Malaysia welcoming Russia’s commitment to sustained cooperation in the sector.
“The two leaders also explored expanding collaboration in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, modern agriculture and pharmaceuticals,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement today.
On trade, it said both sides examined mechanisms to broaden bilateral commerce using local currencies – the Malaysian Ringgit and Russian Ruble.
Visa-free travel between the two nations was also on the table, it added.
The Madani government, it said would continue to take strategic and proactive steps to safeguard the country’s energy security through international partnerships that ensure stability, continuity and resilience of supply.
