Malaysia achieves 49% SDG progress, surpassing global 18% average, with focus on 10 priority areas including child nutrition and mental health.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has recorded encouraging progress in implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) with a projected 49% achievement rate by 2030.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced this exceeds the global average of 18%.
The progress was reported at the 2025 National Sustainable Development Goals Council Meeting chaired by Anwar.
“However, behind these positive figures, much remains to be addressed,” Anwar stated in a Facebook post.
He highlighted particular concerns regarding the nation’s 10 SDG Priority Areas.
These include child malnutrition, mental health, and management of students with special needs.
Employment opportunities for persons with disabilities also require attention.
The Prime Minister stressed these efforts require cooperation from all parties.
Federal and state governments must work together with the private sector and civil society.
This ensures no one is left behind in the nation’s development.
Anwar added the MADANI Government remains committed to the SDG agenda.
This aligns with implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan.
The goal is inclusive, sustainable and prosperous progress for Malaysia’s younger generation. – Bernama
