MB: Selangor orders State Audit Division to review Insan programme

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government has ordered the State Audit Division to conduct a review regarding the implementation of the Selangor General Insurance Scheme (Insan), which provides free group insurance coverage for the people of the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pix) said the review would take into account all matters arising regarding the implementation of the scheme, including the pre-registration process and violations of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

“The Selangor government has called for a more thorough state audit with the intention to protect the people.

“The (insurance protection) has been provided, but it hasn’t reached the full amount (maybe) because the offer isn’t clear, the promotion isn’t good, and the digital method doesn’t reach as many people as we hope it does,” he said.

He said this in reply to questions from Mohd Razali Saari (PN-Sungai Panjang) and Dr Afif Bahardin (PN-Taman Medan) regarding the implementation of the Insan Programme at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said a total of 5,879,600 Selangor people had pre-registered for the Insan programme as of last September and the state government had paid RM12 million through the Conventional Insan Scheme (provided by AmGeneral Insurance Berhad) and RM9 million through the Insan Takaful Scheme (provided by Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad).

The Insan Programme is a Selangor government initiative that began on Oct 1, 2022 and is aimed at providing general insurance protection to six million eligible Selangor residents aged 30 days to 80 years old through the Conventional Insan Scheme and the Insan Takaful Scheme. -Bernama
