Media Innovation Fund opens for applications to boost tech and talent

Phase 1 of the Media Innovation Fund is now open for applications, offering grants for media training, technology, equipment and R&D.

KUALA LUMPUR: Applications for the first phase of the Media Innovation Fund are now open.

The fund aims to strengthen the national media ecosystem through technology adoption and talent development.

Eligible applicants include media organisations registered with the Information Department and personnel holding a Media Accreditation Card.

The funding covers four main scopes: media training, technology, equipment, and research and development.

Training funding covers programmes to enhance skills, including on new technologies or methodologies.

The technology scope includes funding for software supporting content production, such as for audio, video, AI, automation, or graphics.

Equipment funding covers the purchase or rental of cameras, computers, audio gear, small studios, servers and other ICT hardware.

The R&D scope involves funding for studies on innovative content development, including the use of artificial intelligence.

Application forms are available for download via the official Ministry of Communications website.

Completed forms must be submitted by hand or email by January 14.

The submission deadline for Phase 1 applications is January 14.
