Melaka JPJ seized 11 vehicles and issued 43 notices in Op PeWA, targeting foreign drivers without licences, expired road tax and no insurance.
MELAKA: The Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized 11 vehicles during an Operation on Foreign Drivers (Op PeWA) in Melaka Raya.
A total of 43 notices were issued for various offences during the operation to ensure compliance with the Road Transport Act 1987.
Melaka JPJ director Siti Zarina Mohd Yusop said the three main offences were driving without a licence, expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), and no insurance cover.
“The foreign drivers who were subject to action involved individuals aged between 30 and 40, mostly working as contract workers,” she said.
They consisted of eight Indonesians and one each from Bangladesh, Syria and Myanmar.
Of the 55 vehicles inspected, nine motorcycles, one car and one pickup truck were seized.
Siti Zarina said vehicle owners are fully responsible and allowing foreigners to drive without a valid licence is a serious offence.

Compound collection decreased slightly to RM4.66 million in 2025 from RM4.68 million in 2024.
