Melaka passes RM621.8 million state budget for 2026

The Melaka State Assembly passed the 2026 budget, with RM528.8 million for operating expenditure and RM93 million for development.

MELAKA: The State Legislative Assembly passed the 2026 Melaka State Budget today.

The budget, themed “Planned Development, For the People, By the People”, was approved with support from 25 assemblymen.

Two assemblymen were absent, while one abstained from the vote.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh concluded the 2026 Supply (Enactment) Bill after debates from seven members.

The budget’s estimated Operating Expenditure is RM528.8 million.

The estimated Development Expenditure is RM93 million.

Total estimated state government revenue for 2026 is RM528.9 million.

This revenue comprises RM184.7 million in tax revenue, RM295.7 million in non-tax revenue, and RM48.5 million in non-revenue receipts.

Ab Rauf said the budget encompasses three key agendas.

These are sustaining economic development, promoting public welfare and human capital, and strengthening governance.

He added it will be implemented through 13 key areas aligned with the 11 Exco portfolios and the public service. – Bernama
